Who is this person?
Well, it's me. And this blog is so chock full of Rachelness that if you're not careful, you might just get sucked in and decide to stay.
I love meeting new people and though I've been told that my "thinking face" is a little intimidating, I am probably only studying you and thinking about how much we'd like each other if we were friends. I promise I am not intimidating--I have had someone tell me I smile too much to intimidate even the kids I will be working with this summer at Generation Joshua's iGovern camps. :D
As for the deeper things of Who I Am (and if you know how much I love the music of Les Miserables you will automatically reverse the phrase to "Who Am I?"), I am....

A traveler
When I smile, my eyes disappear. When I laugh, I have a lopsided, infectious smile. I write because I cannot help it, and because I love to put words on a page. I blog much for the same reason. I love chocolate, healthy eating, making the food I cook look gorgeous, reading the best books, collecting quotes, writing letters, and being random. I love Wrong Capitalization and Winnie-The-Pooh. I love accents and I most especially love Scottish accents. Hearing one would stop me in my tracks if I'd ever heard one. I once considered purposely colliding with a fellow in a kilt to see if he'd talk, but thought better of it.
I love Broadway musicals and though I am the only one of my sisters who doesn't play the piano, I sing all the time and any time. I love fashion, Paris, traveling, and languages. I love Jesus and I am learning so much more all the time the height, depth, and width of His precious love for me. Any of my dreams hinge on this:
Thy will be done.
This includes marriage (my fondest dream), being a published author (my second fondest dream), being a world-traveler (my third), and anything else I want. Because more than anything, I want to be lost in the wild glory of Christ, living only for His pleasure. I want to be used by Him--a channel through which He can pour His love into the world....and I hope a little of that might seep through this blog to y'all. So please, stick around and leave a comment or two. I would love to get to know you. :)

ReplyDeleteWhat was your latest sewing project? I also am a seamstress, and love making historical costumes! My favorite that I've made is a 1860s' ball gown. I also made my cousins' wedding dress. I know this may be a difficult question for us historical fashion lovers, but what is your favorite era? :) For me, I love civil war anything, and adore the Federal/Romantic era!
ReplyDeleteAh! Sorry, I didn't see these comments, Dani! My last sewing project (horrors!) was a year ago, and it was a semi-formal dress for a wedding. It was my first time working with satin, but it wasn't too hard, I thought. :) Hmmm...let me think...my favorite era...I really do love the Civil War period as far as styles go, as well as Regency. I love later Victorian era too. :) But I am more and more loving every-day dresses of the 40's and 50's.
ReplyDeleteThere is absolutely nothing wrong with you, Lass of all Trades! You have hobbies and interests that are dear and good and, sadly, mostly forgotten by many people. Nowadays people's lives are consumed with the "technical" things.

Three cheers for old-fashioned girls!! I also am glad to hear there are others like me in the world. My mother is forever calling me Anne Shirley because I have a weakness for daydreaming which makes me do absent-minded things at times. :) My favorite era is Victorian, seconded by Civil War. I know we are friends through meeting over the internet, and chatting with you over Facebook is so much fun, but really, I would so love to meet you face to face. That's one of my bucket list item - being able to go around and meet all my dear friends I've met through blogger. :) I have several in your neck of the woods. :) And Scottish accents (AND IRISH!!) are absolutely fantastic!! I want to travel to Scotland and Ireland someday, partly to explore those beautiful countries, and partly to soak up those wonderful accents!! :D And maybe I'll time my travels to go through Cardiff, so that I might be able to see them filming Doctor Who...

haha, ok, so I know these are old commemts, but "Dani Marie" just happens to be one of my best friends. I met her via blogging and then in person, and I was in her wedding last July.
