I am a bit later in the day with this post than I'd wished to be, but the making of strawberry scones and a very long family devotion put me out of the computer world till now, which I didn't exactly mind because I've been going at my editing hammer and tongs and couldn't care less if I ever saw another computer screen ever again.
This morning I thought I'd go Aviator-Nautical, which is a very strange combination.
It's like an aircraft carrier.
It's like Amelia Earhart in a submarine.
It's wonderful.
I threw my hair into a braid-ish sort of thing. It looks slightly complicated, but all I did was braid one of the three strands by itself, then braid it with the others. The bottom turned out curly, but that's all I did. Blue and brown was too duo-chromatic, so I threw in a red hairband and a red bracelet.
As far as makeup goes, I went very simple with my Maybelline "Velvet Crush" eye-shadow. It's grayish-blue-ish-purple-ish and looks good with pretty much anything.
I also used some of Leah's lipgloss which is supposed to be some chic-y chic brand, but which I found to be so pearlized it makes me look like I have white lips. Which in turns makes me think of Thomas the Footman, which then makes me shudder. I won't be using that lipgloss again.
Oh yes: and pardon the strange setting. It's really grey and rainy here, and the only passable lighting in the house is to be found in a bathroom. :P
Ciao Bella!
{And thanks to everyone who participated in Day One!}

Bathroom photos - because bathrooms have an unusual amount of lighting, which is just as well. It is rainy here too, but that has no bearing on my photographs because my bathroom has no windows and if the apocalypse happened it would not matter to my pictures.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I like the red contrast with the blue and white and brown - nice touch. ;) Here is my contribution to this challenge.
Pictures are so hard to take! If only we had a professional photography to follow us around and take pictures of our daily fashion! (wait...maybe that's not a good plan) :)

Aviator nautical, that's an interesting but good combination. Blue and brown will forever go together, nice choice.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea, the best foot forward challenge, inspiring women to look there best even when at home, and not anywhere intended.
It's exactly how my mother raised my sisters and I, the brothers have it so easy don't they ? The day just doesn't feel right without a touch of makeup and the best one can do for the wardrobe. Even my sisters when there on some hard contracting job with our guys, they do there hair, and look the best they can. Being a girl is hard sometimes but not impossible.
So wonderful idea to do this challenge, I will be joining in even if I don't get around to posting about it.
Blessings, Rachel hope
Oh hey, beauty tips! I thought I'd share something I learned and have put into practice.
ReplyDeleteOlive oil. I have sensitive skin - even the kindest makeup remover is too strong for me and dries me out something hideous. So I switched to using olive oil, and it works like a charm! Most makeups (in fact, all I have used) are oil-soluble. Olive oil can be expensive; I haven't tried vegetable oil, which is cheaper, but that might work just as well. When I take off my makeup at night, I do so in the shower with a cotton-ball and a dab of olive oil. It comes right off, and it leaves my skin moisturized.
Vinegar. Most people swear by apple cider vinegar, but I haven't noticed a difference between apple cider and white. This makes a great exfoliant that won't dry out your skin and gets off whatever oil wasn't removed by a brief scrubbing with your fingers.
Pantene. I don't say Pantene exclusively, but I know it's known as a good brand and since switching to it from Suave I haven't had trouble with split-ends. I know it's more expensive, but I've been pleased with the result. As a general rule, you do get what you pay for!
Your hair is so cute like that Rachel! I wish my hair would voluntarily curl. It was gray and dark here today, too... but right now, I don't have any photos to post because Sarah went off to her classes without uploading the pictures from her camera... and I don't know how to do it, her camera is bigger and scarier than mine! I guess I should go try some selfies in my bathroom. ;)
ReplyDeleteAlso, Jenny, I'm excited to hear of someone else who uses oil for makeup remover! I use coconut oil for makeup remover AND lotion, my skin loves it! We get a big 52oz bottle of coconut oil from Costco for around $17, I think, so it's not very expensive, and it feels lighter and less greasy than olive oil to me... which is nice when you use it as a lotion. hehe. =P
Okay, I got my link up for today! =)
