{My Style}: Little Bitta Vintage Charm

It has come....the very last day of the Autumn Allure modest fashion event! It's a little sad to see it go--I've enjoyed putting together all these posts, talking about fashion with you girls, and looking closer at trends, styles, and techniques. It's been great and I hope you've enjoyed reading the posts as much as I've enjoyed writing them. Today might be the last day of my fashion event, but there is another one that I've been participating going on over at Through the Lilac Bushes that I hope you'll check out along with me!
One of my readers, Sarah V. mentioned a site that gives you a quiz to pin-down your own personal style! The Chic Fashionista's quiz was so quick and accurate! Though I know my style pretty well I thought I'd take the test and was pleased to see that the result was in keeping with what I've found: My style is Romantic  and the more I read about it, the more I agreed. Many of the Romantic fashionistas look to vintage-styles to suppliment their personal look...which brings me to today's outfit.

Last night I quickly set my hair in pin-curls--the easiest, most authentic way to get vintage curls...

Essentially all you do is roll your dampish hair around your fingers, bobby-pin it in place, and sleep with a kerchief around your head so the curls don't get frizzed and fuzzed at night.

This is such a lovely method--my personal favorite...no harsh curling irons...no fuss....and it works like a charm for my hair. Shorter hair works best with pin-curls, but though mine has grown out,  you still feel the vintage-effect.

I did my makeup in shimmery, neutral shades with distinct eyeliner and wore red lipstick to accentuate the 50's feel of the soft pink cardigan. I had wanted to wear my brown Oxford-pumps, but since I ended up with a black skirt, that wasn't going work. So I pulled out my thinking-cap and realized that I could go with my cream-colored sling-back heels to coordinate with the cream-colored lace on the cardigan. Win!

After running my fingers through my curls to loosen them a bit, I ended up coiling one back and pinning it to add even a little more fifties' flair to the outfit. :)

I had a lot of fun with this outfit. :)

What were your Sunday outfits?
Also, go ahead and take the personal-style test I linked to and tell me what your style is. :)
Are any of you Romantic like I am?

  2. Very beautiful! :D I guessed 1940's (so I was off by 10 years). ;) Ha. LOVE your hair!

We stayed home so I wore a checked/gingham with hearts jumper {posted on my blog today} and just braided my hair back after taking the picture. ;)

Talk to you in 3 weeks!

  7. I was a Romantic too, according to the quiz... sigh, I love that kind of fashion. Your pin curls are so pretty! Mine always end up coming out in the night and then I have long, frizzy slinks in the morning. Most unbecoming. :P
