Style Spot-light: The granola Boho-chic

I had a request on my Facebook page to do a post on one particular style that is rather "on" right now. That style, my friends, is Boho-chic. As far as I can tell, the Boho (Bohemian) style took off in the sixties, waned till the late 1990's and then ebbed and flowed into its current popularity today. From the little research I've done, it seems that the Boho-look is inspired by gypsies, the Renaissance, hippy-esque clothing, and lots of natural elements. A while back I did a Bon-Voyage Fashion Event post that slightly touched on the style, but I'll give you a better look today.
Boho-chic is definitely a style for "crunchies". {The granola-crowd...you know.} It's casual, slightly untidy, cute, and earthy. *I* can't pull it off convincingly {my style is Romantic/Vintage} but I know many girls who look lovely in this fun genre of dress.

One fun part about the Boho-look is the jewelry! Metals, fibers, wood--all are great examples!

You see a lot of white, cream, beige, and brown in this style which people like to vary with pops of rich color like crimson, plum, orange, and navy.

Very free, flowing, and easy-going. Loose layers of clothing, stacked jewelry, untamed hair...these are the accents.

Belts, too, work extremely well in this style. The wider the better...

Boho-chic is perfect for those who love a simple, gypsy-ish life...carefree, beach-bonfire, lets-go-vegan/herbal girls who like a bit of originality in their fashion-life. ;)

Is Boho your style? Leave a comment below and let me know what you think!

  1. I've always loved the Boho/Peasant look.
I always say my style is a mix of that and Classic, with a touch of Sporty. ;-)
I think one of the reasons I do like it so much, is because of the fit of the clothes. The skirts are looser around the hips, which is great for me because I have prosthetic legs, and they make me not able to wear slim cut skirts very easily.
And a lot of the shirts are just cute!
Definitely one of my styles! :-D
