Little Letters: Life on a Saturday

Dear World....You are full of copper and gold today, spinning down the torrents of air in reckless gaiety because of the coming storm.

Dear Hurricane Sandy.... Please come as a lovely, thrilling Nor'Easter rather than a full-fledged hurricane...and don't make us lose power. If you do come as a hurricane, we'd love it if you would drop a little business our way. I love all of your sort of storms provided you don't stay too long.

Dear Made-with-honey Carrot Cake.... if you taste as good as the sugarful kind I'll love you forever.

Dear Almond-Poppy-Seed-Spice Cake.... you'll have to wait in line. But I look forward to trying you!

Dear Scarlet-Gypsy Song.... a full round of editing convinces me you are still a beautiful story with a lot of promise. I think you'll fit the bill when you're done being polished. I really do.

Dear Levi.... Fishing must be enacted in a pond...not in the toilet bowl. Many thanks.

Dear Sherlock series... COME BACK TO ME SOON!

Dear Psych... You're a pretty good substitute when I need myself a crime show/detective fix. :)

Dear Masquerade-ball.... You are coming at a time in my life when I can't afford contacts and must wear my glasses. Please let me know how to get a mask out of that one.

Dear Books...I am actually making time to read you. Thank you for being such spiffing fellows when I ignore you for a time!

Dear Math.... You and I both know that I'm purposely ignoring you. "Do not speak to me at this time!"

Dear Loki... That creepy smile you do? Yeah. The "I come burdened with glorious purpose" thing? You make me wish I'd never seen Return to Cranford.

Dear Obama... 'Nuff said. From you. From Biden. From me. From America. Get the picture?

Dear Les Miserables... I can't stop thinking about you, singing you, quoting you. I can't wait till Christmas! (or the week after) ONE DAY MORE!!!!!!!!!

Dear Vast Continents...I'll visit you someday. I promise.

Dear Wallet...You're just like an onion. You may be cry every time I open you. ;)

Dear License....our maiden voyage needs to happen soon.

Dear Family... Sorry I haven't been as helpful as I could be recently! I need to pay less attention to my book and more attention to you!

Dear French Revolution... you were disturbing on so many levels...but very, very interesting.

Dear A. Family... I feel like a geek/nerd/heel for working on a campaign instead of coming to Sheridan's baptism, Oliver's graduation, and your whole awesome Barn-dance. Believe me. But I know you understand previous commitments. Allen for the Win!

Dear Pinterest... You were the one who deserves the credit for my table at camp. Seriously.

Dear C.S. Lewis... Wow. Just wow. I don't know how you did it, but bless you.

Little Letters: April Edition

Dear Yeast: you are hyper-active.

Dear Chocolate Chunk Cookies: Why are you so delicious?

Dear Battle of the Bands: Paid in Full is going up against only 2 other bands--be kind and let them win. :)

Dear New York City: I know two of my best friends and visiting you, but wait for me!

Dear Broadway: I will visit you one day--you're on my bucket-list.

Dear Plot Bunny: You're a darling and I hope you'll stay on for good.

Dear Mail-Carrier: Bring something interesting, pretty please.

Dear Knock-out Roses: You're blooming again! Hallelujah--I missed you.

Dear Weather: You are behaving in a way that would astonish and charm the most dedicated mood-swinger.

Dear Portrait of a Lady: Don't turn Isabel Archer into anything...unnatural.

Dear Eyes: I wish you weren't so fixed upon having astigmatism. It makes for a rather expensive contact-lense that I haven't had the margin to buy in 2 1/2 years. :(

Dear Levi: You are adorable. That's all.

Dear Someday-Man of Mine: I love you and I'm waiting for you. <3

Dear Sourdough-starter: You're hyper too. You and that yeast. Sheesh.

Dear Library: I wish you hadn't blocked my card. Yeah, I didn't pay the fine yet but...but...it's monetarily impossible at this moment! :D

...Little Letters...

This post began with the intention of being a sewing-project post, complete with lots of pictures. Then our mutual friend T. H.C. (The Horrid Computer) decided to stick his nose into the idea and it all ran amuck. Do forgive it for not being That Sort of Post--it was meant to be, at the start.I suppose you will have to content yourselves with a Little Letters post. I pilfered the idea from Rebecca Jane, and so here I go! :)

...Dear swingy-jeans-skirt: you and I and contra will be a smashing combination.

...Dear It's (Not That) Complicated: As soon as Sarah is done reading you, I get dibs. Okay?

...Dear sewing machines: I love you, you know I do. Please love me back! :)

...Dear Jane Austen: Edmund Bertram is just a little dense about Fanny Price...don't you think?

...Dear "My Current Novel": Please behave. Please behave.

...Dear Hair: Why won't you ever oblige me and look fashionably messy? I can't for the life of me do anything but smooth, glossy looks with you, and those don't particularly suit my face!

...Dear Husband-To-Be: I'm trying my hardest to abide in Christ and learn everything God hands me so I'll be your dream-woman when you find me. :)

...Dear vintage heels: You're perfectly charming, darlings.

...Dear imagination: Give me a little help thinking up what I can use that white jacquard for--I'm out of ideas.

...Dear vanity: Don't let me quote myself. It's so gauche.

...Dear feet: Learn contra quickly so I don't embarrass my partners. I'd appreciate it!

...Dear baked-goods: Don't put off such a good smell. I am your creator and you tempt me easily. ;)

...Dear waist: Take a hint. Shrink yourself, please.

...Dear Gracie: You are so utterly kissable. Don't ever grow out of it. :)

...Dear Public at Large: Don't forget the classic books you read as a child. This modern stuff is so...blech.

...Dear Pupils: Please do not giggle at me. My laugh has an automatic response to even smiles. We'll get no work done if you aren't perfectly sober.

...Dear Green tea: Um...you aren't all you're cracked up to be. *runs to hug English Breakfast and P.G. Tips* ;)

Love Ever and Anon,
<3 Rachel
